In 2012, North Dakota became one of the world’s largest sources of light crude oil. There was an absence of a developed pipeline network, most of the crude oil instead being transported by road and rail to facilities.
The Solution: Train derailments between 2013-2015 created a partnership with Witt O'Brien's and the state of North Dakota to develop a response preparedness study for crude oil transportation incidents across the state.
