Leading Disaster Recovery Programs from Hurricanes Irma & Maria

The U.S. Virgin Islands (USVI) received wind and rain impacts from two Category 5 hurricanes, Irma and Maria, causing billions of dollars in damage. As part of multiple contract awards, including the USVI Program Management Office, Witt O’Brien’s has helped the USVI with response, recovery and mitigation program management

Witt O’Brien’s helped create the recovery strategy for the Territory and provided strategic support with obtaining grant funding by integrating multiple Federal funding sources, insurance and local resources totaling more than $8 billion.

Responding to the Largest Overland Flooding Event in FEMA History

The Iowa flood of 2008 was a hydrological event involving most of the rivers in eastern Iowa beginning around June 8, 2008 and ending about July 1. Flooding continued on the Upper Mississippi River in the southeastern portion of the state for several more days.

Witt O'Brien's provided extensive coordination management, team development, and communications, to maximize grant awards and reduce funding eligibility problems. These accomplishments were widely applauded throughout the State and became the foundation for the State's successful long-term delivery efforts and requests for supplemental appropriations.
