2013 Vessel General Permit (VGP) Compliance Guide
On March 28, 2013, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) published the 2013 VGP. The 2013 VGP replaces the 2008 VGP set to expire on December 18, 2013.
Witt O’Brien’s has prepared a Compliance Guide and associated enclosures to address the 2013 EPA NPDES Vessel General Permit (VGP) regulation that will become effective on December 19, 2013. These documents are intended to provide companies a template with strategies for implementing a Compliance Program/Policy designed to meet the requirements of the 2013 VGP regulation.
Any vessel authorized to discharge in accordance with the 2013 VGP must have a “Compliance Program/Policy” in place to ensure compliance with the new VGP requirements. This includes the implementation, monitoring and documentation of minimum best management practices for 27 discharges, if applicable, for eligible vessels covered by the permit.
The EPA NPDES VGP Compliance Guide and all associated enclosures can be found at Witt O’Brien’s FTP website.
